Vacancy on Municipal Council – Councillor Position No. 4
PUBLIC NOTICE is hereby given that a vacancy exists on the Council of the Municipality of Chichester for the office of Councillor – Position No. 4.
The vacancy resulted from the resignation of Councillor Chrissy Payne, which was officially received by Council at its regular meeting held on July 6, 2026.
This notice is published in accordance with the Act Respecting Elections and Referendums in Municipalities (R.S.Q., c. E-2.2).
Additional information regarding the process to fill the vacant position, including the holding of a by-election if required, will be communicated by the returning officer in accordance with the applicable legislation.

Municipality of Chichester Announces Resignation of Councillor Chrissy Payne
The Municipality of Chichester wishes to announce that Councillor Chrissy Payne has submitted her resignation from Council, which was officially received by Council at their regular meeting held on July 6, 2026. In her resignation, Councillor Payne advised that she is pursuing a new career opportunity in Toronto and will be relocating from the area.
Mayor Donald Gagnon expressed his sincere appreciation for Councillor Payne’s years of service to the community.
“Chrissy has been a valued member of our Council for many years, and she’ll certainly be missed around the table. We would like to thank her for all the time and effort she has given to our Municipality over the past nine years. She has always cared deeply about her community and worked hard to represent our residents. While we are sorry to see her leave, we are very happy for her and wish her all the best as she begins this new adventure in Toronto.”
Council thanks Councillor Payne for her dedication and many contributions to the Municipality of Chichester and wishes her continued success.
In accordance with the Act Respecting Elections and Referendums in Municipalities, the Municipality will proceed with the process to fill the vacant Council seat. A by-election will be called in the coming weeks, and additional information regarding the election process will be communicated once available.
