Three Pontiac Municipalities Launch Shared Services Initiative with $525,000 Support from the Government of Québec

The municipalities of L’Isle-aux-Allumettes, Chichester, and Sheenboro are pleased to announce that the Government of Québec has approved financial support totaling $525,000 over three years for a joint project aimed at strengthening municipal collaboration and improving the sustainability of local services.

The objective of the project is to harmonize tools and procedures between the municipalities, to pool services related to public works, residual materials management, and municipal administration, to improve administrative efficiency, to promote staff professionalization and specialization, and to enhance the quality, accessibility, and reliability of services for residents of the municipalities of L’Isle-aux-Allumettes, Chichester, and Sheenboro.

As part of this initiative, the project will also include a study conducted by an independent third party to examine the advantages, challenges, and potential impacts of a possible municipal amalgamation. Municipal officials wish to clearly state that the completion of this study does not mean that a municipal amalgamation has been decided. It is simply an analysis. The purpose of the study is to provide objective information that may assist municipal councils in their future decisions.

Any decision regarding municipal structure or the organization of services will be subject to formal review by each municipal council and will be communicated publicly in advance.

The three municipalities are committed to maintaining a transparent process throughout the project. Updates will be shared as the project progresses, and residents will be informed before any significant changes are considered.

This project is made possible through funding from the Government of Québec under the Cooperation and Municipal Governance component of the Regions and Rurality Fund.

Residents seeking additional information are encouraged to contact their municipal elected officials or their municipal office.
