OPERATOR / LABOURER
The Municipality of L’Isle-aux-Allumettes is looking for an Operator-Labourer for its Public Works Department.
PRIMARY TASKS:
The Operator-Labourer will provide a range of services such as:
- Operation and driving of equipment and vehicles (including trucks, grader, backhoe, tractor and others);
- General roadwork, maintenance, repair and construction of roadways, as well as road signage and flagging;
- Daily maintenance of the machinery, routine checks and reporting of any anomalies and deficiencies;
- Respect of laws, policies and standards of workplace safety;
- Execution of various manual tasks related to the work of the team;
- Any other related task requested by the supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES:
The position requires the successful candidate to be able to take initiative, able to work required hours and be responsible.
- Hold a valid driver’s license issued by the SAAQ Class 3, (Class 1 would be an asset)
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent;
- Be in good physical condition;
- Be able to read, write and speak effectively (bilingual would be an asset);
- Previous roadwork and various operator experiences would be an asset;
- Other certifications, such as chain saw and / or confined spaces, would be an asset.
This is a permanent position starting immediately. We offer a competitive hourly wage based on experience, for a 40-hour week from Monday to Friday, including weekend availability for on-call hours, as required.
