L’Isle-aux-Allumettes, [2024-09-24] — The Municipality of L’Isle-aux-Allumettes and the Municipality of Chichester are aware of the concerns raised by residents following the recent increase in property evaluations. As part of our ongoing commitment to transparency and supporting our community, both Municipal Councils are committed to minimize the financial impact on property owners.
In the latest triennial assessment roll (2025-2026-2027), several residents will see significant increases in their property values. While this reflects the growing desirability and development of our region, we understand the concerns over potential tax burdens that may be associated with these new assessments. The Municipalities are dedicated to ensuring that these assessment changes do not lead to unmanageable tax rates for our residents.
To ensure this, the Municipal Councils are announcing their commitment to reduce the tax mill rate in the upcoming budgets, for the 2025 fiscal year. This reduction is aimed at offsetting the increased property evaluations, ensuring that residents will not experience undue financial strain. In addition to adjusting the mill rates, the Mayors and Councils are also exploring other potential measures to further mitigate the impact of these evaluations.
Further details regarding the new tax mill rate and other possible measures will be discussed in the coming weeks and adopted at the Municipal Budget Meetings which are scheduled for December. We encourage all residents to verify their new assessment values and to inquire about the impact it may have on their municipal taxes. For questions or further information, please contact the Municipal Office at 819-689-2266.
Thank you for your continued support.
