Municipality of L’Isle-aux-Allumettes – BY-LAW OFFICER & MUNICIPAL INSPECTOR
The Municipality of L’Isle-aux-Allumettes is seeking a motivated and reliable individual to fill the position of Municipal Inspector – By-Law Enforcement.
This position focuses primarily on municipal by-law enforcement, responding to citizen inquiries, and conducting field inspections within the municipalities. The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring that municipal regulations are applied fairly and consistently within the community.
The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the Director General and in collaboration with a Senior Municipal Inspector who currently provides part-time technical support. The municipalities are committed to supporting the professional development of the successful candidate. Online and on-site training related to municipal inspection and by-law enforcement will be provided during working hours.
RESPONSABILITIES
- Responding to citizen complaints and inquiries related to municipal by-laws
- Conducting site visits and inspections to verify compliance with municipal regulations
- Enforcing municipal and provincial regulation including zoning, nuisances, standards, etc.
- Assisting with the review and processing of permit and certificate applications. Issuing notices, warnings, and statements of offence when required
- Maintaining inspection records and preparing reports related to enforcement activities
- Performing other related duties as required
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Interest or experience in municipal administration, construction, urban planning, environmental services, or by-law enforcement
- Relevant education or training in urban planning, municipal administration, environmental studies or a related field is considered an asset
- Strong computer skills, including the ability to work with digital files, online reporting platforms, and standard office software (Word, Excel, email, etc.).
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with residents and professionals with strong customer service, organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks
- Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment
- Bilingual (French and English), spoken and written, is required
- Valid driver’s license is required.
Experience in municipal inspection or by-law enforcement is an asset; however, training and support will be provided to the successful candidate.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This position is full-time. Salary and working conditions will be set based on experience and the current salary policies in effect.
