WASTE MANAGEMENT

Following the February meeting of municipal council, it was resolved that: effective April 1, 2026, a disposal fee of $7 per bag of household garbage will apply at the transfer site. Loads of three (3) bags or more will be weighed on the scale, and a minimum charge of $20 or the standard tipping fee of $0.40/kg will apply. This structure is intended to encourage residents to maximize recycling and composting in order to minimize disposal costs and encourage use of the curbside collection program.

L’Isle-aux-Allumettes bags will no longer be provided as was done previously, you may continue to use any you have left, but as of April 1st, they will be treated as any other bag and subject to fees. Household waste will only be accepted in clear bags, organics and compost in paper bags and recycling in clear bags or loose.

Recycling will continue to be accepted free of charge, and compost bins will be available on site at no cost to help residents divert organic waste from landfill and further reduce household disposal costs.

The transfer station will continue to accept appliances, electronics, paint, used oil, tires, scrap metal, and similar materials free of charge, as in previous years.
